Online skin picking recovery
An evidence-based course for skin picking recovery. 15 minutes a day, guided audios, practical tools, and the understanding of why it happens.
Dermatillomania, also known as excoriation disorder or skin picking disorder, affects 3–5% of people. It is not a habit. It is not a lack of willpower. It is a deeply embedded body-focused repetitive behaviour, rooted in emotional regulation, sensory need, and nervous system patterns.
Up to 75% of those affected are women, and most begin during adolescence. Most people don't seek help, often because of shame, or simply not knowing that real support exists. It's the bfree mission to change that.

bfree isn't therapy. It's a self-paced guide: clear information and practical self-help tools drawn from the approaches with the strongest research behind them for skin picking, so you can understand what drives your picking and manage it day to day.
bfree introduces five therapeutic approaches, the most researched behavioural techniques for dermatillomania, in simple practical terms for holistic management of your picking.
The bfree guide is structured around a comprehensive behavioural assessment, mapping the sensory, cognitive, emotional, motor, and environmental triggers of your picking, which is the model recommended by the TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours, the leading non-profit in the field.
Settle in, see how the guide and workbook fit together, and listen to your first calming audio. No pressure, no tests, just a gentle beginning.
Understand what dermatillomania is and which style of picking is yours, focused, automatic, or both. Map your triggers, connect with what matters to you, and start a simple seven-day picking log.
Build body awareness and learn to check in with yourself. Look at your lifestyle, environment and sleep, and set up your spaces, including the bedroom, so picking is less likely to take over.
Practical tools for urges and the moments that matter: sensory alternatives, urge surfing, habit reversal training, and simple ways to work with difficult thoughts and feelings in the moment.
Work gently with self-compassion, learn to steady intense feelings, be kind to yourself after any picking episode so you can get back on track, and if it's something you want to do, help to plan how to talk about it with people you trust.
Build confidence for real-life situations, practise mirror work at your own pace, and create a simple achievable maintenance plan for living well with your skin going forward.
bfree is launching soon as a self-paced programme. Add your details and you'll be the first to know when it opens, with an early-access offer for waitlist members.
bfree was originally a 1:1 programme created by Sarah, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, IFS Coach and TRE practitioner, which she ran for six years to specifically support those with Excoriation Disorder and other BFRBs, born from her own lived experience of finding very little education, support and research for it. The 1:1 programme was referred by the TLC Foundation, the charity for BFRBs.
Now, bfree focuses on making this information and framework accessible to more people, building awareness of skin picking disorder, and delivering a self-paced, accessible guide you can begin from home.
